Team Lead

Seasonal · Monday–Friday · Ages 18+

We're hiring two Team Leads to help oversee daily camp operations, support our counselors, and ensure campers have an incredible experience each day.

Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Team Lead serves as a bridge between camp leadership and the counseling team. This role helps keep the day running smoothly by supporting counselors, assisting with camper needs, and helping maintain a positive, organized camp environment. The ideal candidate is someone who is confident leading others, enjoys working with children, and can step in wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities

Team Support & Leadership

  • Serve as a role model and resource for Lead Camp Counselors and counselors
  • Help counselors stay organized and prepared throughout the day
  • Assist with assigning responsibilities and communicating daily expectations
  • Provide guidance and support when counselors need help handling situations
  • Help create a positive, encouraging team culture

Camp Operations

  • Assist with daily opening and closing procedures
  • Help coordinate transitions between activities, meals, outdoor time, and special events
  • Monitor schedules to ensure activities run on time
  • Support attendance tracking and camper accountability
  • Communicate important updates or concerns to camp leadership

Camper Experience & Safety

  • Build positive relationships with campers ages 5–12
  • Support counselors with behavior management and conflict resolution
  • Help ensure all safety procedures are followed
  • Step in to assist with groups when coverage is needed
  • Help create a welcoming environment where every camper feels included

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, childcare, coaching, or leadership setting preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable taking initiative and making decisions
  • Reliable, organized, and dependable
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must pass a background check

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to be active outdoors and on your feet throughout the day

  • Plan and facilitate games, crafts, STEM activities, music, sports, and outdoor adventures
  • Create a fun, inclusive, and safe environment where every child feels welcome
  • Build positive relationships with campers and their families
  • Work as part of a team to keep the day organized and engaging
  • Assist with daily check-in/check-out procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized camp space
  • Enforce camp rules and safety procedures with kindness and consistency
  • Respond calmly and professionally to minor conflicts and behavioral challenges

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children through camps, schools, childcare, coaching, or similar settings preferred
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and energetic
  • Patient and compassionate
  • Comfortable leading groups of children
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Creative and willing to jump into silly songs, messy crafts, water games, and outdoor fun
  • Able to think quickly and stay calm in unexpected situations

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to be active outdoors, lift up to 30 pounds, and spend the day standing, walking, playing, and supervising children

Position Summary

The Camp Floater is a flexible team member who provides support wherever needed throughout Camp Cardinal. Floaters assist counselors, activity leaders, and camp staff to ensure campers have a safe, fun, and engaging experience. This role requires adaptability, a positive attitude, and the ability to work with campers of various ages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist counselors with supervising campers during activities, transitions, meals, and free play.
  • Fill in for staff members as needed to maintain appropriate camper-to-staff ratios.
  • Help set up, clean up, and organize activity areas and equipment.
  • Support campers by encouraging participation, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring their safety.
  • Escort campers between activities and assist with check-in and check-out procedures when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming camp environment.
  • Follow all camp policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with campers, staff, and supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily camp operations.

Qualifications

  • Enjoy working with children in a fun and active environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable, flexible, and willing to adapt to changing needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced setting.
  • Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are a plus or willingness to obtain.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor activities in various weather conditions.
